We lead a great team of professionals who are committed to providing a caring, structured learning environment in which all pupils can develop academically, socially, emotionally and morally to their full potential.
At The Wenlock School we support boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 18 years of age who have a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism. Our aim is very simple: we want to equip every child with the skills, knowledge and confidence that they need to be successful in their future.
Many children come to us with very complex needs, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviour. We always look beyond the issues and potential barriers to learning and recognise the innate potential within. We invest time with each individual child to recognise and understand their learning needs so that we can put in place the right support package. Our expectations are very high for both behaviour and achievement because we know that we can help children make much more progress than they would within a mainstream school environment.
With this in mind, we recognise that for many of our children the journey of education so far has been far from easy, which is why we think creatively about our approach to learning. We pride ourselves on preparing our pupils for the next stage of their lives – not just academically but socially and emotionally and all of our pupils are encouraged to reach high standards in every aspect.
